On July 30, 2015, The State Board of Pardons and Paroles traveled to Fort Valley for a Victims Visitors' Day. At these events, since 2006, the Board has traveled to Georgia communities to meet with victims of crime. Crime victims are able to schedule individual meetings with parole staff and a Parole Board Member. At this event held at Fort Valley State University more than 150 victims attended. Meetings with crime victims continued into the early evening. The Victims Visitors' Day was conducted by the Georgia Office of Victim Services in conjunction with State Representative Patty Bentley, who represents District 139.
