Meet the Board From 1943 to the present.
An act of February 5, 1943, created a State Board of Pardons and Paroles, which shall consist of three members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. (Acts 1943, p. 185)
It was made a constitutional body by the 1945 Constitution (Art. V, Sec. 1, Par. 11)
A Constitutional Amendment, effective in 1973, expanded the Board to five members.
