Open Records Request
Open Records Requests
Under the Georgia Open Records Act (ORA), all public records are available for inspection and copying unless they are specifically exempted from disclosure under the law. Many records in the Parole Board's possession are classified as confidential state secrets under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. section 42-9-53) and are exempt from disclosure under the ORA.
A request to inspect or copy public records subject to disclosure under the ORA may be made either orally or in writing upon the Board's Director of Legal Services. However, a written request is strongly recommended to eliminate any dispute as to what was requested or when the request was made.
The written request must be addressed to the Director of Legal Services and sent to:
State Board of Pardons and Paroles, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Fifth Floor, East Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-4909 or Fax: 404.651.6670 or email [email protected].
Reasonable fees may be assessed for copies, search, retrieval, and any other direct administrative costs associated with the request.
