ATLANTA - The State Board of Pardons and Paroles is moving its next monthly meeting from Atlanta to Cordele. The October 4, 2017, meeting will be at the Crisp County Courthouse beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Staff training is being conducted the week of October 2nd in Crisp County and the Board Members decided to hold the agency’s public meeting in Cordele.

“We wanted to take this opportunity to allow more of the public to gain insight into our operations,” said James Mills, Chairman of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

The Board on occasion has conducted meetings outside of Atlanta in an effort to allow more Georgia citizens access to the Parole Board. The most recent meeting conducted away from Atlanta was in January 2015 in Columbus.

At the Board’s monthly meetings the members discuss the operations of the agency. That includes approval of policy and procedural updates and parole staff present program and operational updates. Parole cases are not discussed and parole decisions are not made during these monthly Board Meetings.

“This will be another opportunity for the people of Georgia to witness state government in action. We welcome all Georgians and especially the residents of Cordele, Crisp County and the surrounding areas to attend the meeting,” said Chairman Mills.

The Board will return to Cordele on October 17, 2017, to meet with crime victims. Additional information will be forthcoming about the scheduled Victims Visitors’ Day.

The October 4th, Parole Board meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Crisp County Courthouse located at 510 7th Street N #202, Cordele, Georgia 31015.
