ATLANTA – Parole Board Chairman Terry E. Barnard has been reappointed to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) by Governor Nathan Deal. Mr. Barnard was first appointed to GCFV in 2012.

GCFV was established by the Georgia Legislature in 1992. GCFV works to educate and raise awareness about family violence in Georgia. The commission certifies and monitors Family Violence Intervention Programs, evaluates services, researches the need for additional services and offers and monitors proposed legislation concerning family violence. GCFV conducts quarterly meetings in Atlanta and will co-sponsor the 2015 Stop Violence Against Women Day on February 3rd at the Georgia State Capitol.

“Mr. Barnard’s reappointment to the Commission is vital as we move our work forward to decrease the impact and instances of family and intimate partner violence in our state. Mr. Barnard brings a wealth of knowledge to the Commission as the Chair of the Pardons and Paroles Board in combination with his experience with the Georgia General Assembly and business community,” said Holly Tuchman, Chair of GCFV.
