Joined the agency as a parole officer in 1980. He rose to the positions of Chief Parole Officer, Research Manager, and Public Information Director. Transferring to the Georgia Department of Corrections, as the Public Information Director, he rose to the position of Executive Assistant for the Commissioner of Corrections. In this position he oversaw the agency’s planning and research functions, legislative liaison, and oversight of the public information and victims’ services areas.
