Turkey Pardon Highlights the Board's Pardon Process
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles provides opportunities through the granting of pardons. Partnering with the Georgia Department of Agriculture provided the opportunity to highlight the pardon process and Georgia agriculture. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper and Georgia Parole Board Chair Joyette Holmes attended a ceremony prior to Thanksgiving, where "Tom the Turkey" received a pardon from the parole board.
In Fiscal Year 2025, the parole board granted 436 pardons and restoration of civil and political rights.
