Margaret "Meg" Heap
State Board of Pardons and Paroles
Meg Heap was appointed to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles by Governor Brian Kemp in January of 2021.
Ms. Heap earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Georgia Southern University and a Juris Doctorate from Mercer University.
Ms. Heap began her career as a volunteer coordinator and victim advocate with the Victim-Witness Assistance Program in the Savannah District Attorney’s Office. After law school, she served the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit as an Assistant District Attorney and later as an Assistant District Attorney in Chatham County. In 2012, Mrs. Heap was elected District Attorney for the Eastern Judicial Circuit (Chatham County) where she served two terms.
Heap began serving as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia in August of 2025.
