Thomas Green began his career in state government in 2005 with the Georgia Department of Corrections, serving as a Probation Officer in Cherokee County. He was promoted to Probation Officer II in May of 2007 and assumed a specialized offender caseload.

In March 2011, Green transferred to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles as a Parole Officer at the Adairsville Parole Office. During Basic Parole Officer Training, he was awarded the academy’s Top Student Award and placed second for the Top Gun Award. In August of 2012, Thomas was promoted to Senior Parole Officer. The following  year, in August of 2013, he was promoted to Specialized Parole Officer at the Adairsville Parole Office, and in January of 2015, he was promoted to Assistant Chief at the Marietta Parole Office. He maintained that position with the new Department of Community Supervision.

In September 2016, Green transferred back to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles as a District Operations Manager with responsibility of several Judicial Circuits. In 2020, in addition to his normal duties, Green was asked to join the FBI Safe Street Gang Task Force for the Northern District of Georgia and has worked the last four plus years as a Task Force Officer, while continuing his duties as a District Operations Manager for the Parole Board. 

Director Thomas Green is a 2002 graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology.
