Georgia Public Defender Council 2024 Annual Conference Presentation
The Georgia Parole Board's Clemency Division delivered a presentation at the Georgia Public Defender Council's annual conference held at the UGA School of Law. Clemency Division Director Crystal Moon and staff gave attorneys an overview of the parole consideration process. "Public defenders have a necessary role in the criminal justice process and we provided necessary information for them to assist their clients to the best of their ability after a conviction," stated Moon. Executive Director of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles Chris Barnett echoed Moon's comments. "Included in the presentation is the fact that the Board accepts input about an offender's case prior to a parole decision from anyone. These attorneys have information about their clients that can assist the Board in making the best parole decision," said Barnett.
