Georgia Office of Victim Services Training Conference
The Georgia Office of Victim Services (GOVS) held a training conference at Lanier Islands in Buford, Georgia. The training was specifically designed for District Attorneys, Assistant District Attorneys, Victim-Witness Assistance Directors, and staff from across the state. GOVS Director Rita Rocker says ensuring the highest quality service delivery to crime victims in Georgia is the goal of everyone involved in this training. “The Georgia Office of Victim Services works with its partners daily to ensure victims receive the needed services to which they are entitled. This conference was about enhancing victim service delivery by bridging the gap between local, regional, and state services,” said Rocker.
GOVS is considered the "One Stop Shop" for all post-conviction victim services. The office is the victim services arm of the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC ), the State Board of Pardons and Paroles (SBPP), and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS). Crime survivors and leaders from many state agencies, including the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Corrections, Board of Pardons and Paroles, and Department of Community Supervision attended and spoke at the conference.
