Served as Executive Counsel to the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, where he was also a member; served as District Attorney of Clayton from 1972-1974 and from 1977-2004; and was voted District Attorney of the Year in 1987 and 2001. He also served as a member of the Georgia Board of Public Safety, the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Judicial Retirement System, the Georgia Code Revision Plan Committee; the Commission to Assess Crime Laboratory Needs into the 21st Century; and, member of the 2009 delegation to Israel with the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange. On November 15, 2013 he was appointed by Governor Deal to serve as one of the Deputy Directors for the newly established Office of Transition, Support, and Reentry.
