ATLANTA – The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has voted to declassify the clemency application filed on behalf of condemned inmate Kelly Renee Gissendaner. The application is now available to the public via the agency website at Download this pdf file. Gissendaner Application .

“The Board, when possible, may vote to declassify certain confidential or classified information which is protected by state law,” stated Board spokesman Steve Hayes. “This is not always possible due to information that could potentially be harmful to parties in the case or witnesses who may appear before the Board,” he added.

The Board is meeting Tuesday, February 24, 2015, to hear information for or against clemency for the inmate. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. In addition to information in the clemency application, the Board expects to hear additional testimony and information Tuesday from the inmate’s representatives.

The clemency application represents only a portion of the information that the Board will consider in making a decision in the case.

Prior to the clemency meeting, the Board will have thoroughly reviewed the parole file on the inmate which includes the circumstances of the death penalty case, the inmate’s criminal history, and a comprehensive history of the inmate’s life.

“The Board Members’ preparation on the case, as in all death penalty cases, is exhaustive,” Hayes said.
