Leadership Catoosa/Leadership Walker State Government Day 2025
The Parole Board participated in the State Government Day of the Catoosa/Walker County Leadership Group. The group consists of representatives of businesses, government entities, and organizations from both Catoosa and Walker Counties. The leaders visit the State Capitol and their elected officials to learn more about their state government and discuss issues. Parole Board Chairman David Herring and Executive Director Chris Barnett represented the Board.
"This was a great opportunity for the Board to engage and educate our constituents about the Parole Board and our place in the state's criminal justice system. These leaders are stakeholders in the decisions made by the Board and we wanted them to understand our processes," said Chairman Herring.
Executive Director Barnett told the group that as leaders they are also stakeholders in the success of offenders returning to the community. "Individuals require support when released from prison and business leaders have a great opportunity to assist in that reintegration by including them in the local workforce," said Executive Director Barnett.
