APAI: Georgia Parole Board Presentation

The State Board of Pardons and Paroles presented information for training purposes to those attending the Association of Paroling Authorities (APAI) 2024 Training Conference in Bellevue, Washington. Georgia Parole Board Vice Chairman David Herring and member Joyette Holmes were among the Georgia staff speaking to U.S. and international parole leaders.

“The clemency and parole decision-making process in Georgia is unique and proven, and our staff delivered an excellent presentation. It’s because of our parole staff that as board members we can make informed scientific decisions in the interest of public safety. Those attending our workshop were able to consider some of our processes that they may be able to utilize in their operations,” stated Herring. The Georgia presentation was titled, “Enhancing Clemency Decision Making Through Effective Community Partnerships.”

“I was impressed with the presentations made by the various parole authorities,” said Holmes. “The conference provided information on a wide variety of relatable topics and it’s important to share what works for each of us,” added Holmes.
