Parole Board and Executive Leadership Training
The Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles and its Executive Leadership participated in a training program to learn more about the science of the brain, including brain development and the impact of mental health issues on the cognitive decision-making capabilities of individuals, and how those challenges may impact clemency decision making.
Dr. Abigail Tucker, SHE Consulting, facilitated the training session. "My primary mission today was to share science from the field of psychology to elevate the work of the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles. The criminal justice system faces monumental challenges in decisions that impact community safety, victims and their families, and the lives of those incarcerated and their families. I am grateful to the Board for taking the time to learn about brain science, psychology, and the intersecting realities of behavioral health and justice," stated Dr. Tucker.
