April 2022 Board Meeting at Georgia Southern University

The State Board of Pardons and Paroles conducted its monthly meeting at the campus of Georgia Southern University. The Board holds monthly operational meetings, typically in Atlanta at the Parole Board central office. “We want to bring state government to more Georgia citizens, when possible,” Parole Board Chairman Terry Barnard said. “We hope to engage more of the public about the functions of the parole board by periodically holding our monthly meetings in other Georgia communities,” he added.

Board Members fielded questions from Georgia Southern students and faculty after the meeting. Executive Director of Parole, Chris Barnett says the agency is building partnerships with stakeholders. “Everyone, including our next generation of public leaders, are stakeholders in the parole process. We will continue to engage, educate, and encourage participation in the parole process as a path to enhanced operations and public safety,” Barnett stated. The meeting included operational updates from the Clemency, Field, and Victim Services divisions and from the agency’s support offices.
