Open Records Request

Open Records Requests

(*Please note the process for filing an open records request has been revised as of August 23, 2023. The agency no longer accepts requests via fax. Requests should be addressed to the Open Records Officer and no longer to the Director of Legal Services. The process is outlined below.)

Under the Georgia Open Records Act (ORA), all public records are available for inspection and copying unless they are specifically exempted from disclosure under the law.  Many records in the Parole Board's possession are classified as confidential state secrets under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. section 42-9-53) and are exempt from disclosure under the ORA.

A request to inspect or copy public records subject to disclosure under the ORA may be made either orally or in writing upon the Board's Open Records Officer. However, a written request is strongly recommended to eliminate any dispute as to what was requested or when the request was made.

The written request must be addressed to the Open Records Officer and sent to:

State Board of Pardons and Paroles, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Suite 430, Balcony Level West Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-4909 or email [email protected].

Reasonable fees may be assessed for copies, search, retrieval, and any other direct administrative costs associated with the request.
