A lifetime public servant, Albert Murray retired June 30th leaving behind a legacy of accomplishments and program improvements serving incarcerated youth and public safety. Murray began his career in his native Tennessee rising to assistant commissioner for the departments serving youth in that state. His success was noted and he was appointed as Kansas' first juvenile justice commissioner. After serving a year in Alabama as a deputy commissioner for corrections, he was appointed by Governor Perdue in Georgia to run the Dept. of Juvenile Justice where he successfully ended federal oversight of that system. He retires after more than 40 years of public service. At the Parole Board his service included six plus years. He also served as chairman for two years. Congratulations Mr. Murray, we shall miss you!
