Parole Board Promotes Bobo to Jesup Chief Parole Officer

Atlanta, Ga - Michael Bobo has been selected for the position of Chief Parole
Officer in the Jesup Parole Office. Bobo’s promotion was effective October 1, 2011.
In 1990, Bobo graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
criminal justice. He began his career with the Board on September 1, 1998, as a Parole Officer
in the Jesup Parole Office. Upon graduating from basic parole training, Bobo was awarded the
Performance Award, Academic Award, and Steve Bower’s Award.
Bobo later advanced to the position of Senior Parole Officer. His assignments with the
Board include serving as a Field Training Officer, MRT Instructor, Health and Wellness Instructor,
and POST-Certified Instructor specializing in firearms. He has additional duties assisting
with the pre-basic course and with quarterly firearms requalification. Bobo completed the New
Manager Training Program in 2001. He volunteered to serve during the G-8 Summit in
2004. He was recognized as the Board’s Southeast Region Employee of the Year in 2004. He
served on the Parole Association of Georgia (PAOG) executive board from 2004 to 2006 as the
Southeast Representative and from 2006 to 2008 as the Second Vice-President.
“Throughout his career with the agency, Mike has distinguished himself with professionalism
and dedication to public safety. He will be a true asset to the District #16 Jesup Parole
Office,” stated Darryl McGhee, Southeast Region Director for the Parole Board. The Jesup
Parole Office supervises more than 400 parolees. The average caseload per officer is
85.
Bobo and his family reside in Jesup.
