Savannah Parole Chief Promoted to Regional Director

Atlanta, GA - Savannah Chief Parole Officer Larry Morgan is being promoted to the
position of Metro Regional Director.
Morgan began his career with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles on June 16, 1997, as a
Parole Officer in the Savannah Parole Office. He later advanced to the position of Senior Parole
Officer on December 16, 1998. His assignments with the Board include serving as Electronic
Monitoring Specialist, Sex Offender Specialist, District Arrest Team Coordinator, a member of the
Savannah Impact Program and member of the U.S. Marshals’ Southeast Georgia Fugitive
Squad.
In 2000, Morgan was selected as the Southeast Region Employee of the Year. He became a
POST Certified Instructor in 2002 and he also is certified as a Firearms Instructor as well as
Range Officer. In March, 2007, Morgan was promoted to Chief in the Brunswick Parole
Office. In October, 2010 Morgan transferred to Savannah as the Chief Parole
Officer.
Prior to working for Parole, Morgan graduated from Savannah State University in 1997, with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army
in 1992. During his tenure with the Board, Morgan continued his formal education by obtaining a
Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Georgia Southern University in 2004.
“Throughout his term with the Board, Larry has distinguished himself with professionalism,
integrity and dedication to public safety,” stated Field Operations Director Jay Lacienski. “
He will be a true asset to the Board in his new role as Metro Regional Director.” Morgan
assumes his new role effective July 1, 2011.
The Board’s Metro Atlanta Region includes six parole offices. They are DeKalb, Jonesboro,
Griffin, Marietta, North Fulton and South Metro. The region employs 75 parole officers who
supervise more than 5,000 parolees.
